I hope these examples will spur your imagination. Layering mats enhances any piece of art. The examples below show you everything from a single mat up to four mats. Just remember not to let the matting or the frame overpower the piece itself. Both should compliment your drawings or any piece of art.

Simple metal, enamel coated metal, painted or wood frames are very appropriate for your drawings. A frame that's overly ornate is too much for the simplistic pencil drawing. Wide frames work; just be sure that you use frames that are in proportion to the finished mat size. The wider your finished mat the heavier your frame can be.
